The scope of the project consisted of installing 20, 16”, 12” potable water transmission main piping for the Western Area Water Supply Authority. Approximately 59,000 feet of 20” water main was installed using open cut, directional boring and cased Jack and bore methods. 13,000 feet of 12” water main and 7,000 feet of 16” water main were also installed using the same methods. 25 air release manholes, 23 hydrants, and one metering station were installed along the pipeline. Some of the challenges with this project included crossing the newly constructed freeway in two locations as well as hilly terrain, bedrock and wet locations.
